If Windows Installer repeatedly tries and fails to install something when you read articles in the .NET Framework SDK, the MSDN Library, or the Visual Studio .NET documentation, look for events like these in your application event log:

Event Source: MsiInstaller
Event ID:     1004
Detection of product '{005F0409-6759-11D5-A54F-0090278A1BB8}',
feature 'Visual_Studio_.NET_Ent_Architect', component 
'{C9AF9050-C8BE-11D1-9C67-0000F81F1B38}' failed.  The resource 
'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Common\UserData'
does not exist.

Event ID:     1001
Detection of product '{005F0409-6759-11D5-A54F-0090278A1BB8}',
