CopySourceAsHtml News

CopySourceAsHtml News:

James Avery mentioned CopySourceAsHtml in "Visual Studio Add-Ins Every Developer Should Download Now" in the December 2005 edition of MSDN Magazine. It's arguably the least useful add-in on the list, but it's great to be mentioned. Thanks James!

Derick Bailey ported CopySourceAsHtml to VS2005. I hope to release a version with VS2005 support and several improvements this week as a result. Thanks Derick!

Jeff Atwood has been working on his macro to copy source as HTML, provoking an arms race in copying-source-as-HTML, a race I intend to win. (OK, just kidding, there's room for both solutions.)

Colin,

I would be happy to help in testing, especially after originally munging the spelling of your name!

Also do you anticipate having any difficulties in having versions running in 2003 and 2005 of Visual Studio?

Cheers,

Bob

Hi Colin,
I am looking forward to the new version with VS2005 support. I'm seeing partial (not all) garbaged characters and looking into source. I will let you know if I found patterns or clues. (besides that this is really cool ad-in!)

I have ClipMem running (www.clipmem.de), which is a very valuable tool, just as yours :-)

Unfortunately, Copy as HTML does not work when ClipMem is up, System.Windows.Forms.Clipboard.GetDataObject() fails in method Clipboard.GetRtf() (sorry for the lack of detail, I could mail you a stack trace screenshot if you wanted).

After running the setup, some DLL files were copied to my program files directory, but there are no changes in my visual express edition. Does this work in Visual Express editions? Where do I put or register the DLL's so the express will see the add on?

When you say "least useful add-in on the list" I hope you understand what you really mean is "most useful add-in on the list." The others are great, but this is the only one I see myself using constantly. Looking forward to the 2005 version.

I downloaded the VS2005 version and found there are some quirks,

The setup should be localized (For example, in sweden the program directory is C:\program)

I think the /resetaddin commandline should be in project properties and post build.
Maybe the post build should copy the addin dll to the addins directory?
But i guess thats a task for the installer...

Great addin though :)

Can you give an ETA on release date? It's been almost a month since you said 'next week' :(
